The Clark County School District supervises the public schools in the Las Vegas area, and is the fifth largest school district in the United States. With such a large population to teach, its no wonder that the district controls a total of 205 elementary schools, 60 middle schools, and 42 high schools! Of these, North Las Vegas has approximately 21 elementary schools, 5 middle schools, and 9 high schools.
For private schools in the North Las Vegas area, there are five schools to chose from. Kids Campus, a private kindergarten, has a teacher-student ratio of 1:10. Redeemer Lutern Elementary School is a private pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, with an average teacher-student ratio of 1:7. Maranatha Academy of Nevada is a private elementary and middle school with the same student-teacher ratio as Redeemer Luthern Elementary, and St. Christopher School, an elementary and middle school, is the largest of the private schools: The average teacher-student ratio is 1:27. There is also a small all-grades private school: Echoes Christian Academy has a total of 18 students and 3 teachers, most grades having 1 student each. The Academy has a special program emphasis.
As far as post-secondary education, North Las Vegas contains one campus of the Community College of Southern Nevada. Further south in Las Vegas, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas is located in Paradise, three miles south of Las Vegas's city limits. The UNLV's Medical School is located closer to the downtown of Las Vegas. Some of the national colleges in the area include the University of Phoenix, which has campuses in the area, and Nevada State College and Touro University Nevada in nearby Henderson.
